Hello,

I'm Doula Alayzia Ponder 🔜 Banks

My Journey to Becoming a Doula:

I faced many medical challenges including Ovarian Cancer, miscarriages, fertility issues, autoimmune disorders, and the mental health effects of medical trauma as a black woman. These experiences although unfortunate ignited a passion for women's health and well-being in me. Through a period of self-acceptance and holistic healing, I discovered my purpose as a healer, using herbalism and holistic practices to restore my own well-being. My journey highlights the power of personal transformation and the desire to use one's own experiences to uplift others, educate, and support others on their medical maternal journeys.

Experience and Credentials:

I have been very fortunate to have been culminating experience in this line of work since my sisters first birth in 2017. My interest in healthcare is evident in my college pursuit of Pre-Medicine at BGSU and my graduation from the Ohio Medical Career College as a nursing assistant, all while on and off going through chemotherapy.

What Sets Me Apart:

What sets me apart is my commitment to you. You're not just another client; you're a mom who deserves to feel confident, heard, and cared for. I tailor my support to your unique needs, whether it's helping you with the medical system, breastfeeding, emotional well-being, or adjusting to a new family dynamic. My background in Herbalism and my commitment to Holistic Wellness positions me to be a valuable resource especially for women of color when it comes to preparing for labor and delivery, postpartum healing and mental health.

What I Believe:

I don't just focus on baby care; I take a holistic approach that includes nurturing you, the mother. Motherhood is not a solo act—it takes a supportive community, and I aim to be a valuable part of yours. Your story is unique, and so are your needs. Whether you're a first-time mom or adding another bundle of joy to your family, I adapt my support to fit your situation. I stay updated on the latest evidence-based and holistic practices in pregnancy and postpartum care. I bring you tried and true methods that work.

Benefits From Services

“The relationship between a Doula and her client begins several months before the baby is due. During this time, we are building a relationship in which the mother feels comfortable asking questions, expressing her fears and concerns, and participating in the creation of a holistic birth plan. I can provide information and holistic techniques that can help reduce the stress and trauma that is often associated with childbirth. I will make myself available to the mother by phone and text to answer her questions or address any concerns that may arise. Understand that I do not provide medical care. I am, however, well-versed in many medical aspects of pregnancy, labor & delivery and postpartum healing. I plan to remain in constant and close proximity to the mother during delivery. I can provide comfort through pain-relief techniques such as breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, massage, and laboring positions. I always encourage partner participation and provide reassurance to families. My goal is to assist the mother in having a positive and safe birth, whether it is an unmedicated birth or a cesarean. I will also assist in lactation support and the transition from home to hospital ”

Holistic & Natural Techniques

Speaks Life

Into You

“She provided holistic approaches for pain and inducing labor naturally from home until it was time for the hospital.”

“She was on call and ready as soon as my water broke, helped me breathe throughout the contractions, assured me that I was built for this process, spoke life into me and recited positive affirmations to me.”

Able To

Anticipate Needs

A Thorough & Balanced Approach

“She had already prepared a postpartum care box, full of all of the necessary tools needed for healing from my episiotomy. I had a natural birth, so I did tear a little bit. She provided assistance with bathing, if needed, or simply caring for or watching the baby as I showered, cleaned or whatever I needed her for.”

“After delivery, she came to assist with my self and baby during my two day stay. She even picked me and baby up and transported us home as well.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How Soon Should I Book Your Services?

Black Basic Arrow Right

The sooner, the better to ensure I’m available for your specific dates.

However, life is unpredictable—especially with a new baby.

I try to accommodate last-minute requests when possible.

What Are Your Fees?

Black Basic Arrow Right

Finances shouldn't be a stressor during this special time.

That's why I offer different packages to suit various needs.

From hourly rates to fully loaded packages, there’s something to fit every budget.

Detailed pricing can be discussed during our initial free consultation.

Does Insurance Cover Doula Services?

Black Basic Arrow Right

The State of Ohio now offers however, that is subject to your individual insurance provider.

I heard of people using their HSA/FSA, but the best way to get an answer is to get in touch with your insurance company.

I recommend adding Doula services to your registry for your baby shower.

Can Family Members Be Involved?

Black Basic Arrow Right

Absolutely, family support can be crucial.

I encourage spouses, partners, and even grandparents to be part of the process.

Whether it’s learning about baby care or providing emotional support to the new mom, everyone’s involvement creates a stronger, holistic support system.

Do You Offer Virtual Or Out Of State Services?

Black Basic Arrow Right

Yes, for those who prefer or require it, virtual consultations and guidance are available.

This can be a flexible and convenient option for many families.

Depending on location and availability, I will travel with a per diem discussed and agreed upon.

You're not alone on this journey.

Got questions or need quick advice?

I’m here to help you navigate this special time.
